To Kasadela friends and family, It hurts us deeply to announce our official closure from 647 E. 11th street( n ave.C); As some of you already know we suffered greatly from Sandy and though we tried all that we could to re-open our current circumstance just won't allow that to happen, so reluctantly we've said goodbye to our beloved home on 11th st. The forces that lead to this decision making were many, but ultimately it was the LACK of support from our Landlord and building management- rather then write a scathing rant it's better to focus on the hopes for the future. As far as relocation is concerned we're currently fundraising to make that happen; the economic injury we've sustained prompted a dear friend to launch a donation account for Kasadela on GoFundMe and we've applied for a small business loan offered as Sandy relief. We haven't received any coverage from insurance and the costs of renovating far exceed what we've earned. The process of re-opening will take some time and great effort, so please keep us in your thoughts and we greatly appreciate all the support we have and will continue to receive. We would like to take time to thank everyone who donated to Kasadela via "gofundme" and the sake community for it's response: Nanbubijin Sake Brewery, Dassai Sake Brewery, Sakaya, Sake Discoveries, and more, thank you for your continued love and support of Kasadela Izakaya. Contributions can be submitted through http://www.gofundme.com/1hk8aw "Save Kasadela" we will be using the donation money to close @ 647 e. 11th street and re-open in a new location, meanwhile don't forget about Kasadela, and don't forget about Tebasaki!!!! See you soon!!!!

Kasadela has been devastated by Sandy!
Sorry for closing for a long time..
As
many of our fans know we've sustained about 70% worth of damage.Damages
include: sewage all over the entire basement, inventory destroyed such
as rice, flour, rice vinegar, oil, meats, fish, chicken, ice cream,
vegetables, soy sauce and sauces etc., beer, sake, soda, juice, napkins,
towels, toilet paper, plates, pans, pots, glasses, utensils, broken
kitchen appliances, two freezers, a refrigerator, the gas line is
malfunctioning effecting the stove, fryer, broiler, and grill, the
dinging room's warped wood floor, brand new delivery bike, old delivery
bike, soiled clothes, soiled furniture, records and paperwork, computer,
fax machine, printer/scanner, the list is endless seriously; we had a
pretty big basement so we kept pretty much everything down there.
It is mind boggling to write this we have no idea what to do with
ourselves. Our goal of $50,000 is to clean and sanitize the premises,
adequately replace inventory, repair appliances worth salvaging replace
those unworthy, renovate the floor, and return most things back to
normal at least enough to get back on our feet. . We love to do what it
that we do and if there was any way we could fry or cook a wing in that
space and serve someone- we would! A temporary absence but we will
continue to put forth our best efforts to re-open but have faced several
challenges and a lack of support from our Insurance co. We were
reluctant to use this website, but friends&fans insisted that we
accept their support now more than ever instead of relying on the
system.
Thank you for your continued support since 2003 without you we
could not have survived and with you, we shall again!!!!!!
or
Love,
Kasadela Family

Sawa no Tsuru
The name ‘SAWANOTSURU’literally means ‘crane of the swamp’. The origin of the name comes from Japanese mythology.
~Once upon a time, a deity(倭姫命) found a crane crying and holding a sheaf of rice in its beak at the swamp near Ise shrine.(伊勢神宮)
She was moved because even a crane would offer rice to the shrine. She ordered another deity(伊佐波登美神) to brew sake from the rice and offer it to the god of the shrine. Afterwards, she cherished the crane as the god of food.(大歳神)~

In Japanese, swamp=SAWA(沢)which has a good image like an oasis that
provides animals and plants with an enough water and sunlight.
We hope our sake can also enrich man's life like the swamp.

Genshu Night
Have you ever enjoyed sake on the rocks??
Sake contains only rice (as you know), yeast and water, so sake
straight from the barrel, or undiluted sake- "Genshu", has stronger alcohol content than regular sake-Seishu.
6/6(wed) kasadela will only serve
"SAWA NO TSURU ON THE ROCKS!!"
This genshu will give you rich sweetness from the rice and freshness when well chilled; also a great match with our izakaya plates:)
Sake Raffle!!!!
A lil' fun time from the brewer
With every purchase comes a chance to win another round free!!

SIP,BITE, + SLURP
On Friday October 7th Lucky Rice and the Japanese Culinary Center presents a night of sake paired with foods from multiple regions of Japan. Kasadela has been invited to feature our Nagoya style Tebasaski chicken wings. It will be a great show if you can make it please come.
"Brooklyn’s Hibino will present that most elegant of Japanese foods kaiseki-ryori which originated in Kyoto, the ancient seat of imperial power. Hakata Tonton, which has transported the pork specialties from the southern Japanese island of Kyushu to the West Village will be providing bites. Kasadela – based in Alphabet City – will show you what a sticky, sweet and spicy Nagoya-style tebasaki (chicken wing) tastes like. Otafuku located on 9th Street, will be cooking their take on okonomiyaki which translates to “as you like it” meaning that you can have that Japanese pancake your way. Michelin star decorated Kyo Ya, usually tucked away in the East Village, will come out to play and represent Hokkaido as will 47th Street’s sleek sushi bar Tsushima."
